The Liverpool Biennial curatorial team invited me to conceive a new work for their 2012 edition. When I proposed the idea I thought that there was no way they would accept it. I was greatly surprised when this intricate project came to completion.
Together with my team, we created a dramatic, sculptural intervention in the heart of the city's main shopping district. Replicating an industrial elevator cabin, the work gave the appearance of having erupted from beneath the pavement, disrupting the sleek and seductive commercial world of Liverpool One shopping area.
